Colorful Faux Washi Tape

Hello everyone! Here is a quick way to use all of those pesky labels you have left over when you only need to print a few on a sheet.

I used Blank Page Muse script stamp, circles stamp, and sketchy doodle bricks, the address labels from Staples, Dylusions Spray inks in several colors, Ranger Archival ink in several colors, and some old printers foil I have had forever!

First, spray the labels with the spray ink and let dry, then stamp randomly with stamps in black and other color archival inks to create texture. Then if you have gold foil you can do this technique with that, but I had some printers gold foil and used an Uhu glue stick. To use the glue stick, run it over the stickers along the thin edge to apply a line of glue, then cut a piece of gold foil and lay it on the glue, rub the foil and let sit for about 15 seconds and rub with an old credit card then peel off. That's it!

Making Your Own Patterns From Leftover Rubber Stamps

One of the things I love about buying stamps from Blank Page Muse,

is that I can purchase them un-mounted.

This means I can mount them myself and use the leftover rubber bits

to create my own pattern stamps!

Bookmarks I made using leftover rubber.

I always save leftover rubber after I've mounted my stamps..

I save the scraps of cling mounting foam that I use as well.

Those odd shapes are perfect for small stamp designs or individual letters.

Or for making my own patterns!

So many different things I can use these for!

I see bubbles, sprinkles and journaling lines.

Fun to play with too!

Cards with ATCs

Hello! Susie on the blog today and I am going to share a fun, time saving idea.

This time of year there are always so many cards I need to send - graduations, weddings, etc. Over the years I developed a fun way to build up my CAS (Clean And Simple) card stash AND try out new techniques at the same time.

Time to play...

Supplies:
Flower from the Scribble & Scratch Mixed MediaSet 2
Watercolor paper cut to ATC size 2.5" x 3.5"
Clearsnap clear embossing ink and powder
Clearsnap ColorBox Blends 2 - Pansy
Want2Scrap self-adhesive rhinestone bling
Paintbrush
Water
Stamping platform
Craft mat

Today I wanted to play with a resist technique and a new ink color. I love the flower from Pam Bray's Scribble & Scratch Mixed Media Set 2 so I decided to use it as my focal image.
I set it up on my stamping platform so that it would stamp off the edge of ATC sized cards.
.

Using clear embossing ink and powder, stamp and prepare the ATCs, using a heat gun to set the powder.

Use the craft mat as a palette, drip some ink and spritz with water.
(For the first card I just painted inside the lines)
Start with a light wash and then go back and selectively add layers of color before finishing it off with some paint brush splatter!

For the ATC, spray with water and drip some watered down ink in the center.
Move the ink around the ATC, by blowing air through a straw.

Next up, my daughter suggested an edge drip. So I spritzed the ATC and dripped watered down ink along one edge. Didn't do enough for me so I added the straw technique from above.

For this ATC I spritzed it with water and just covered it with paint brush spatter.

This card got a wash of watered down Pansy ink.

Use the same resist technique with the clear embossing ink and powder to stamp out a couple of sentiments. This is a really easy way to color coordinate your sentiment.

And here it is on a CAS card. Simply ink the edges of the ATC and then adhere it to the front of a card, layering the sentiment on top.

Here's another ATC with a slightly different layout and a different sentiment.

And sometimes I make cards with no sentiment on the front at all - this time I just adhered a sprinkle of rhinestone bling!

I really like CAS cards and this ATC approach lets me have fun with techniques. Another benefit is that my storage space is really small because I just tuck away the ATC's until I need a card!

Washi Tape Card & Envelope Gift Set

Hello, hello! Happy July, everyone! Did you know that it is never too early to get started on making your holiday gifts?

Today I'm going to share a super easy gift idea with you; washi tape cards and coordinating envelopes. You'll be amazed by how quickly it all comes together!

You will need:

At least two different rolls of washi tape. I used four.
4 white A2 sized card bases
4 coordinating envelopes
Masking paper (I used Post It notes)
Black pigment ink
Clear embossing powder
Colored ink to match your washi tape

The Dream Big Dreams Word Art Rubber Stamp
The 'thanks' stamp from the Fall Rubber Stamp Sheet Set by Pam Bray Designs
The Happy Birthday Phrase Rubber Stamp
The You are my Sunshine Sentiment Art Rubber Stamp

Let's get started!

Beginning at the top left corner of one of your card bases begin layering your washi tape. Continue until you reach about the half way point.

Trim off excess.

Repeat on remaining three card bases, alternating corners and washi tape.

Mask your card up to the edge of the washi tape.

Using your black pigment ink stamp the floral motif stamp onto the wash tape several times. Heat emboss with clear embossing powder. Repeat for remaining three cards.
