Porthole to Paradise

Hello friends,

My name is Adam and I am new to Sin City Stamps but very excited to be part of this design team. I am looking forward to sharing my creations and ideas using these great stamps.



Supply List:

1.  Sin City Stamp:   Mountains & Beaches Rubber Stamp Sheet 
2.  Wood background stamp
3.  Rusted metal embossing powder
4. Gray Cardstock 
5. Newsprint or a post-it for masking
6. Circle dies
7. Ink pads in brow, shades of blue,
8.  Black detail ink
9. Cloud stamp
10. Window sheet
11. Foam tape and adhesive
12. Metal corners
13. Blending tool or a makeup sponge

Step 1:  Stamp the wood grain background on gray cardstock filling the 81/2 x 11 sheet.
 Next cut the sheet into planks and blend edges with the same ink used to stamp wood grain.

Step 2:  Die cut a circle to create the porthole. Next, stamp the row boat and mask it. The next step

   is to stamp the mountains across the center forming the back drop of the scene.

Now the row boat appears in the foreground and the mountains in the background.

Step 3:  Stamp clouds in the sky. I used two ink colors to give depth and realism. I then masked

   the mountains (see below) so I could ink blend color to the sky.

Step 4:  Now mask the sky, mountains and boat, then ink blend the water or color any way you

  wish. I masked sky, water and boat to ink blend the mountains and finally colored the boat

  using the same process.

Step 5:  Die cut two circles creating a ring to be used for the porthole.  Using embossing powder
   to color the ring making it appear as metal.  Emboss a small section of paper with a darker metallic
   embossing powder to make the rivets on the porthole.  I used a single hole punch to make the small
   circles.

Step 6:  Using the wood planks created in Step 1, stack the planks on your base making sure seams
   do not line up.  Be sure and ink blend any cuts so all planks are edged.  This gives a wood floor or
   wall effect.

Step 7:  Attach scene to center of base.

Step 8:  Cut circle out of window sheet and affix to porthole ring.  Use foam tape on back of
   ring to give dimension to porthole.

Step 9:  Place porthole ring around the scene.

Step 10:  Attach metal corners to base. I then placed the finished base onto a black piece of card-
   stock a quarter inch larger to give a small edging to the project.
