Cure for Boils Potion Book

Hi Monique here and  I have an Art Journal page for you with a very useful recipe for a potion.

Supplies used:

Sin City Stamp set: Halloween Bingo Rubber stamp set

Masking tape

Ink pads in shades of brown, rust colors and black

Spiderweb mask

Waterproof stamp ink in black and brown

Colored pencils

Metallic gold paint

Water spray bottle

Scissors

Permanent black pen

Blank notebook

How to:

Step 1:  Mask the bingo stamp, only the top part is going to be used and masking the part you are not going to use before inking will avoid smudges on the page.

Step 2: Use brown ink to stamp on the top and bottom of the pages, it is not a problem if it doesn't show well, you will see why later on.

 Step 3: Using brown ink, continue stamping your images. These will be in the background so the clarity of the image doesn't have to be perfect. (Here the skeleton head vintage key and  the skull shaped cauldron were used)

Step 4: Use black ink to now add the powdered cobwebs pot , then stamp it again onto some masking paper. This creates a "mask"- place this over the existing stamped image.

Step 5: Repeat step 4 with the rest of the bottle stamps.

 Step 6: Continue stamping and masking till you have a set of 5, leave all masks on when done stamping.

Step 7 : Ink all over your pages with the rusty color.
Leave the masks on for step 8.

Step 8:  Place the spiderweb stencil onto the pages and ink over with the shades of brown inks.
Do not remove the masks on the bottles just yet.

Step 9: Splatter some water drops over the page and see how the inks react with the water. Add some darker brown and black ink to the page to give it a aged weathered look.
 Leave the bottle masks on till you are done aging the page.

Step 10: Remove masks and color in the bottles

 Step 11: Remember the first stamp impressions on the top and bottom of the pages, trace them using gold paint and a small paint brush.
Add some gold paint to the edges of the pages too.

Step 12: Hand write the recipe for the potion (this one came from the internet).

Remember This Dream..Journal Page

Hello everyone!
Today I am here to share a journal page I recently created!
I used the Love of Butterflies- Sin City stamp set.

Journal pages are a fun and great way to relax.
They are also a way to "unload" when you have many ideas floating around in your mind!!
 Sin City Stamps carry hundreds of different stamps so there are endless possibilities for adding many items to your pages!!

Here are a few "tips" for you that I use and believe to be very helpful when Art Journaling!

1. Create a background with colors and textures as a starting point.
2. Add some basic stamping for dimension.
3. Find your focal point or points using larger and/or more detailed stamps as I have done with the butterflies on this one.
4. Use embossing powder to enhance around larger stamps!

Inchy Girls...

Welcome to my latest Sin City Inspiration Creations (that's a tongue twister)!!!!!

So today I am sharing some greeting cards using a great funky gal set available in store! You may remember earlier in March I shared some pocket letters using "masterboard" backgrounds made with Sin City Stamps? Well I'm sure you are like me and cannot bear to throw away even the smallest piece of lovely decorated card - soooo today I am using those left over bits from the ATC's/Pocket Letters to create "inchie" backgrounds for a couple of greeting cards. Hope you feel inspired and also not guilty about hanging onto those bits of leftover card LOL!

Supplies List:

• Sin City Stamp Set Just Us Girls
• (Masterboard Leftovers used Sin City Stamp Set Dandelion Wishes with Butterflies & Flower and Bird Sketches)
• Watercolor paper or card for stamping "girl" images
• Black Archival ink
• Watercolor pencils and Aqua-wash pen
• Scraps of co-ordinated colored card
• Co-ordinating base cards
• Sewing machine (optional)
• General supplies like scissors, glue, double sided tape, small hole punch, embellishments, fibers etc.

Instructions:

 Firstly get your left over strips from your "masterboards" and cut them slightly smaller than 1inch square -if you have a square punch use that. Luckily I had a square punch just smaller than an inch so it made life easy! Plus if you have an inch punch grab your co-ordinating plain coloured card and punch out the same number of squares. Punch/cut 9 of each.

You have one inch and slightly smaller than an inch squares. Glue the smaller squares onto the co-ordinating coloured inch squares. Now this next step is optional (I love the effect of sewing on my creations so I have decided to sew). Using your sewing machine and a zig zag stitch sew around the border of the small squares - this is quite fiddly and time consuming because you are working with such a small piece of card - but worth the "fussiness" because you get a great effect!

Next get your co-ordinating coloured card and start to assemble your layers of the card! The first "layer" to add your inchies to is cut a 9cm x 9cm square - arrange your 9 "inchies" evenly over and adhere. Then cut a contrasting colour at 10xm x 10cm square and adhere to the back of the inchies layer. Follow this with the next layer of contrasting coloured card at 11cm x 11cm square. Finally adhere all those layers to the base card which is 12cm wide x 24cm long (to be folded in half of course!). See pic below for layout!

Now that the "base" card is ready let's stamp out those groovy gals from the "Just Us Girls" Stamp Set. You can use any colouring medium you like for this! I've used watercolour card and pencils with an aquawash pen because I hadn't done any watercolour colouring for a long time and thought these stamps were good for this effect!

Fussy cut the images and then arrange on your card with some embellies! Depending on the colour scheme you have use embellishments that are complimentary eg. neutral card uses muslin cloth scrap, wording stamped on brown paper and string tied at spine of card, the pastel card uses lace, pastel card to stamp the wording and co-ordinating coloured fibres tied at the top of the card. I used 2 gals per card but you can use one or 3 totally personal choice!

Hope you have enjoyed my inchie card process and maybe feel inspired to create something yourself with your left over bits & pieces - or at least not feel guilty about keeping scraps because you just never know what they might come in handy for LOL!!!

Swimming in the Ocean Greeting card

Hello Crafty Friends,

I am very excited to use the Sin City Stamps Nautical 2 Stamp Set because I am an avid cruiser and spend much time on the Caribbean Sea. (or at least I try to spend much time there, lol) This stamp set lends itself to ink blending, one of my favorite techniques. I hope you too will enjoy making cards with this stamp set.

Supplies:

   Sin City Stamps:

     Nautical 2 set

   Other supplies:

     Inks-in blues, greens, browns, pink

     blending tool

     Sentiment word die

     Seaweed die

     Foam tape

     sequins

     masking tape

Step 1:

Mask off edges of card base. Blend ink, using three shades of blue, in the center of the card front. Next flick/splatter water on the blended ink. This creates the water effect.  Do as much as you like.

Step 2:

Die cut the seaweed.

    

Step 3:
Using two shades of green and one brown blend color onto the seaweed die cuts.

Step 4:
Stamp and cut out the fish and seahorse.

Step 5:
Ink blend the seahorse and fish to your liking, creating a realistic look to the sea life.

Step 6:
Die cut the sentiment and assemble the pieces into an eye pleasing arrangement.  Use foam tape to add dimension and sequins to give the card a little sparkle.
Now your project is complete.

Believe in Fairies Wall Hanging - Home Decor

Hello Sin City Stamp Fans,

It's Karen here today to share my wall hanging.  I bought an inexpensive Christmas decoration in the after Holiday sales. I didn't mind that it was ugly and poorly painted because I knew that I would be covering that design and transforming it completely. Now let me present my new springtime decoration featuring the lovely fairy & flower stamps from Sin City Stamps.

Supplies:

• Fairies Blossoms 2 Stamp Set
• Inhale Exhale Art Stamp Set
• Art Journaling 2 Stamp Set
• black pigment ink pad / black permanent ink pad
• purple dye ink pad
• gold & purple pigment ink pad
• transparency / white cardstock
• glitter glue
• liquid adhesive / gold micro beads
• watermark ink / embossing powder / heat gun / chipboard word
• ribbon / mini gems
• white acrylic paint / sponge brush
• stencil & texture paste
• purple & gold spray mists
• clear crackle paint

Directions:
1. Stamp flowers with black pigment ink on white cardstock. (1 xlarge - 1 large - 2 medium - 1 small) Color the flowers using a sponge applicator with purple die ink.

2. Carefully, cut them out. Use scissors to make a snip towards the center of the flower (1 large & 1 medium) and continue cutting a 1/2" circle from the center. To give the flower more natural dimension, overlap the edges of the two end petals and adhere them together.

 3. Next, snip between each of the petals so that each petal is able to curl. Begin to adhere the four concentric layers. The first layer is large 3D. The next flower is flat. The third layer is medium 3D and the smallest flower is flat. Lastly, gently curve and bend each petal to vary their placement. Apply liquid adhesive to the center of the flower and add gold micro beads to the wet glue. Gently pat the beads to make sure they are well embedded in the adhesive.

4. Remove the hanging ribbon so the plaque lays flat on the table. Use a foam brush to apply white acrylic paint to the plaque. 2-3 coats of paint may be needed. Set aside to dry.

(Before the transformation!)

5. Use permanent black ink to stamp the fairies onto transparency. Carefully, cut them out. Make the wings dimensional by gently bending them.  Stamp another set of wings, folding them in half, and adhere them to the colored fairy on the largest flower. Apply iridescent glitter glue to the wings and set them aside to dry.

6. Randomly stamp different size flower stamps onto the white background board using purple pigment ink. To make a mask, stamp an image of the flower onto scrap paper and cut it out. Align the paper mask over the stamped image and stamp another flower overlapping the original flower. Remove the mask to reveal the layered images. Repeat masking & stamping.

7. Apply gold ink to bare chipboard. Next, apply watermark ink over the gold and add embossing powder and heat set. Repeat the process by adding different colors of embossing powder with each new layer.

 8. Stamp the script background design in the open spaces between flowers.

When dry, apply a light layer of white acrylic paint over the
stamped flower images allowing a faint image to be visible through the paint. 

8. Place the stencil down and apply purple spray mist randomly. Remove the stencil.

When thoroughly dry, spray three areas with gold mist and allow to dry. 

Next, apply white crackle paint over those same three areas. 

After it is thoroughly dry, spray again with gold mist
to allow it to seep into the cracks making them more pronounced.

 9. Place the stencil down and apply texture paste in random areas through the stencil.

When thoroughly dry, spray purple mist over the texture paste design. 

9.  Attach the chipboard word partially overhanging the top of the plaque and reattach the hanging ribbons. Adhere gems to the center of the flowers and the chipboard title. Lastly, apply clear crackle paint over the texture paste flourishes.

 Arrange all the elements and stamped images and then adhere the largest flowers.

 Add the fairies..

Stamp small butterflies onto white cardstock, color, cut, and then embellish with gems.
