How to use your Distress Markers to create watercolor Stamped Images

Hi Chris here today sharing a quick card I created using my Distress markers with Sin City Stamps!

Here is a list of my supplies

Sin City Stamps: Terri Sproul Wishes
Distress Markers (Ranger) - Pine needles, Shaded Lilac,  Pickled Raspberry, Abandoned Coral, Crushed Olive, Peacock Feathers, Black Soot
Watercolor Paper - Strathmore
Patterned Paper- Studio Calico
Punch-Martha Stewart, Close to My Heart
Ranger Archival Ink

I started by coloring on my stamps with my distress markers.

I then spritzed my stamp with water lightly and stamped onto my watercolor paper. I re-stamped the images without re-inking to create the illusion of flowers in the background.

I originally stamped my greeting directly on the card.  I wasn't paying attention and I stamped the image off kilter.

So I re-stamped the greeting onto my watercolor paper and used my scallop circle punch to punch out the greeting.  I matted the greeting onto another scallop punched circle and added to my card.  I matted the card onto the same paper I used for background punched circle.

I then colored the butterfly stamp and stamped onto the watercolor paper WITHOUT spritzing with water.  I actually did spritz with water and first and the Black Soot I used for the body bled all over the rest of the butterfly :(   So you can learn from my mistake.

I then used my Martha Stewart Butterfly punch to punch out the butterfly. I then stamped an additional greeting and butterfly on the inside of my card.

 Hope you enjoyed this project!

I'm in love with Mixed Media!

Hello All Lanette Here!

Today I'm going to share a pretty little layout that I created using the fun Anime Fairies 2 Art Rubber Stamps Art Journal 3 Stamp Sets.

First lets take a look at my layout and then I will take you through my process.

Sin City Supplies Used  Anime Fairies 2 Art Rubber Stamps Art Journal 3 Stamp Set

Other Supplies Used: Stazon Ink, Faber Castell Markers, Distress Ink, Art Anthology Velvet, Art Anthology Colorations Spray, Creative Embellishments Chipboard, Liquitex Modeling Paste, Misc Stencil, Prima Flowers, Misc Lace, Cheese Cloth & Twine

Now lets look at my process......

I started by building my background up using a a few scrap dictionary pages. After I added my pages I randomly stamped over the dictionary pages with a fairy stamp from the   Anime Fairies 2 Art Rubber Stamps. (This gets covered up but its all about the layers !!)

/

Next I addded a layer of modeling paste for a bit of texture.

My next step was to start adding color I added a mix of Art Anthology Colorations and Velvet.

I continued to add to my background by randomly stamping words from the Art Journal 3 Stamp Set with coordinating Distress Ink colors.

After I added the words, I continued adding random images with darker inks, I used a mix of  stamps from the  Anime Fairies 2 Art Rubber Stamps Art Journal 3 Stamp Set.

You can see a bit of this stamping here ;)

After I was happy with my background I started making a few layered butterfly embellishments. First I colored a dictionary page with Art Anthology Colorations spry, After it was dry I stamped the page repeatably with a butterfly from the Anime Fairies 2 Art Rubber Stamps.

Then I fussy cut all theose little guys out and layered them up, aren't they cute!

After I added these little guys to my flower clusters my page was complete!!

A few Details just for Fun!

Box Card with Tamiko

Hey folks it's Friday. which means it's the weekend baby!  Time to set back relax and reflect on the week ahead.  Sometimes it requires a little motivation, which brings me to my project... I created what many of us know as an easel drawer card. I readjusted the measurements as I knew them to be, to fit ATCs (artist trading cards).  I left enough room so that would be easy enough to get out them drawer. I was able to use a few misc stamps from various sets I have from Sin City Stamps.

This easel and drawer box card was created for an ATC.  The drawer can hold twenty flat.  I enjoyed making the box card, even though I had to measure again and again :) .  Let me show you what I did.

Here I did my own calculations for the drawer and the wrapper.  I made a few provisions so the ATCs would have a little wiggle room.  I think I did this step at least twice.  Didn't care for my scoring abilities and chose to start over.

After I have done all my base pieces, box drawer and easel. I began to adorn the sides with a printed papers and by building my card's front for my easel.  I distressed my edges on my patterned paper and added some bling dangles and a small cluster of flowers.  I stamped very lightly using collage stamp from the Sin City Stamps Bingo set and utilized the smallest butterfly stamp in the Love of Butterflies.  Then I added some bling trim with my Helmar Craft Glue.. (yayy sparkle goodness)

While the trim was setting I proceeded to work on my image.  I don't know about you all, but sometimes I stamp extra images so I can color them and then I place it in a folder, so I can use them as I need them,  This time, I stamped on printed paper to avoid doing too much extra coloring. I did stamp her in archival ink though, wasn't sure how wet she might get when I applied paints.

My neocolor IIs added a little color to her'' and instead of using water to activate the neo IIs, I used some unbleached titanium white.  Which worked well and softened my bold lines of color on my image. She is just 1 of 6, lovely girls you can find in the Just Us Girls Stamp set by Terri Sproul.

After I had a few more things added to my box card.. I decided to create a some very simple ATCs with positive messages on each of them.  I know the recipient will love those!  Here are some more pictures, up close.

Hope you guys enjoyed my project and even more important, Don't forget to shop at Sin City Stamps for all your stamping and paper crafting needs!

How to create an Altered Planner Page

Chris here and today I am sharing the "B" side of my  calendar insert i shared with you on August 3. I created to hold some of my stickers and embellishments for my Create 365 planner (which I am using as my daily inspiration and make me smile planner:D ).  This is what it looks like in my planner.

To create this project I used:

Sin City Stamps:Wish, Love of Butterflies
Distress Inks and Distress Tool- Spiced Marmalade. Mowed lawn, Broken China, Fired Brick
Gesso
Ink- Ranger Archival
American Crafts DIY paper
package insert from Create 365 Calender sticky pads

If you remember I started by gesso-ing my package insert because I wasn't sure what I was going to do on the back side. .I really didn't need to gesso this based on how I ended up finshing the project.

I then started adding torn strips of the American Crafts papers to  my insert until it was completely covered.

I then randomly started adding Distress Inks to my page.

I then stamped my Sin City Stamp Images onto the piece. I restamped some of the Wildflowers from  the Wish collection without re-inking to create some "background" images.

And here is the Final Project.

Every time I see this page in my planner I smile!

Fairy Fun!

Hello All Lanette Here!

Today I'm going to share a few Fairy ATC Cards created using the fun Anime Fairies 2 Art Rubber Stamps!

First lets take a look at my finished ATC's ,then we can take a look at how I made them :)

Sin City Supplies Used  Anime Fairies 2 Art Rubber Stamps Art Journal 3 Stamp Set

Other Supplies Used: Stazon Ink, Faber Castell Markers, Faber Castell Gelatos, Art Anthology Sorbet, Art Anthology Colorations Spray, Misc Stencil, Uniball & Gel pens

Now lets look at my process......

I started by choosing a few Fairies from the Anime Fairies 2 Art Rubber Stamps along with a couple of verses. I even mixed in a verse stamp from the Art Journal 3 Stamp Set. After my decision was made I stamped my cards using a waterproof ink.

Using a mix of watercolor pencils and a water brush colored in my fairies.

After my fairies colored and dry I added a thin coat of Art Anthology Sorbet Frost, to create a resit against the next layer of color and add a bit of glitter at the same time.

Next I colored the backgrounds using several different Art Anthology Colorations sprays and a mix of stencils. After all my backgrounds were dry I added a bit of doodling.

And there you have it a quick set of ATCs to trade with your artsy pals!!
Now  Before you go lets take another look at all four tags....
