Journal Page project

For this project I decided to make a journal page.   I used a win above the rest stamp set that can be purchased from http://www.sincitystamps.com.  I hope you enjoy this project, below you will find step-by-step instructions on how to make your very own.

Supplies List:
  • facade (surface): art journal book, manila card stock
  • distress ink: gathered twig
  • distress stain: abandoned coral
  • distress markers: frayed burlap and aged mahogany
  • radiant gels: yellow rose
  • archival ink: potting soil and black
  • embellishments: Big Chat and Small Talk stickers
  • adhesives: pop dots
  • tools: water detail brush, craft sheet, mister, heat tool, scissors, ink blending tool, pallet knife
  • stencil:scm126 Butterfly2 Mask
  • stamps used: A Wing above the Rest stampset

Step 1:  We will start with a page in your art journaling book and taking tissue tape and start to create your back ground.

Step 2: Now using distress inks (gathered twigs) and cover the journaling page with the distress ink using a blending tool.   I use wax paper to be my way of controlling my project from bleeding into other pages in my journal.

Step 3: Now that you have the background of the journal page started lets then create the water drop effect onto the surface of that.  Take a water mister and squirt water into the palm of your hand.  Then flick the water onto the canvas.
Then using your heat gun start drying the canvas and then blot up the remaining water with a cloth or paper towel.
Step 4:  Now we are going to take potting soil archival ink and using the background stamp from the a wing above the rest stamp set (sc13) I randomly stamped this into my journal page.

Step 5:  Our next step is take the butterfly stencil and place this on the journal page.  Using distress spray stain abandoned coral spray your journal page.
Then dry the back ground and blot up any excess distress stain with a paper towel.

Step 6: Now we will take the butterfly stencil and place it back in place and tape it down.
Step 7: Then take Radiant Gels yellow rose color and apply that in the open areas with a pallet knife.

Be sure to quickly rinse the stencil after application so that you get it clean.  Then use your heat tool to dry the stenciled area.
Step 8:  Now that we have the journal page started we are going to continue to add stamped images to your journal page.
Step 9: Take black archival ink and from the a wing above the rest stamp set add further to your project with more stamped images.  I took manila card stock and stamped the image and then cut it out so that I could have the image be raised in appearance.

Step 10: Then we will repeat this step with another stamp and using frayed burlap distress marker color the clock frame.
I then applied some gathered twig distress ink to dirty up the edges and across the face of the stamped image.
I finished it off by adhering it to the journal page with pop dots.
Step 11: Final step was I added chit chat stickers to the journal page.
